Somerset Villa, Bath

New Dwelling

Somerset Villa, situated in Bath, replaced a previous building, incorperating a bespoke timber frame design, along with a slate roof and traditional Bath stone walling.

The project now provides a modern home for the client.

The original building was an old bungalow, which was aged and did not suit the needs of the client.

Once we had demolished the existing property, we begun excavation. The project is in the side of a hill and access to the site is very restricted, so construction from start to finish was very challenging.

After the traditional build up of foundations and block & beam floor, a timber frame & SIP panel framework was erected to form the external walls and roof structure of the building.

The building was finished with traditional bath stone walling and slate tiles to the front, and a modern theme of buttermilk render and flat roof to the rear, complete with bespoke powder-coated aluminium gutters, fascia and soffit, and timber & aluminium composite windows & doors.

The interior features high spec plaster boarding, an intricate lighting system and underfloor heating, with porcelain tiles to all floors as well as bathroom & shower room walls.
